Illumi Facial Review

I’ve tried the Illiumi facial.. you’re going to want to try it too... 

I won’t lie, over the last 18 months my skin has been my priority. Fact is, I don’t wear foundation, apply little make up, I want the best skin I can have without resorting to invasive treatments. These days, facials have been thoroughly re-invented and unlike just the usual scrub, extraction and mask, ‘photofacials’ now incorporate safe, quick, medical-grade light for skin problems and anti-aging without the downtime. 

For those of you who don’t know, ‘photofacials’ are skin treatments that use light-based technology (IPL) for skin rejuvenation, it harnesses the power of light to remove or lighten pigmentation and thread veins, a special wavelength to treat acne and an anti- aging Infra-red module that brightens skin instantly. 

Here’s a step by step on what to expect:

Step 1 – the first step in achieving clearer, healthier, radiant skin was a deep cleanse. 

Step 2 – Following the Cleanse, a unique Glycolic Tri-fruit Acid Peel was applied to my skin for 3 minutes. It can be applied up to 10 minutes, dependent on what stage of the treatment cycle you are in.  The peel resurfaces skin texture and decongests pores, priming my skin for step 3. 

Step 3 – Post peel my skin was ready for the Lynton Lumina IPL. Ultrasound gel applied and safety glasses, Jodie used the 650nm handpiece over the whole face, starting with the forehead, cheeks, jawline and nose. Its longer wavelengths stimulate collagen & elastin. The gun is placed with medium pressure, a countdown of three, red flash of light and a warm sensation on your skin that isn’t unbearable. A second IPL handpiece (585nm) with shorter wavelengths targets any pigmentation, thread veins, acne, and scarring. Jodie precisely targeted a couple of small areas, it’s a intense shock of heat that she massages away, but the results are instant, dramatically clearer, flawless, firmer skin with just a hint of redness on the targeted areas. 

Step 4 – cold cleanse, followed by stem cell serum, incredibly cooling, hydrating and smells divine (citrus) layered with protective SPF50 moisturiser.
