We all know that foods we eat has a visible effect on skin? 

Smoothies are a great way to start the day, replenish after a workout, give yourself an energy boost and support a healthy immune system.  They are an easy, inexpensive way at this time of the year to boost your vitamin intake whilst achieving beautiful, healthy, and glowing skin.

After tried and tested recipes, our go-to breakfast smoothies:

Orange cream smoothie 

Ingredients

1 medium orange

3 tbsp plain Greek yogurt

2 cubes frozen coconut milk

1/4 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup water

1 tbsp chia seeds

Instructions

Peel and separate the orange. Place the water and yogurt in first then add the orange, frozen coconut milk cubes and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and serve right away. 


Strawberry Banana Nut Smoothie 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt

  • 1/2 frozen banana

  • 2 cubes frozen coconut milk

  • 6 frozen strawberries

  • 2 cubes frozen orange juice

  • 1 tbsp almond butter

  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Add water and yogurt to blender first. Then add remaining ingredients and blend until smooth.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder

  • ½ frozen banana

  • 1 heaping tbsp peanut butter

  • 1 tbsp uncooked quick oats

  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend on high for 30 seconds to 1 minute or until everything is smooth. Add a splash of water if it’s too thick

For healthy skin, you should aim for foods that are high in omega 3 fatty acids. For smoothies this includes adding chia seeds, walnuts, and flax seeds, Add collagen. You can either eat straight powder, or use foods that stimulate collagen production including strawberries, citrus fruits and kale. Finally, foods that are rich in vitamin A and antioxidants, such as blueberries and sweet potatoes can be added for better skin. 

Remember to drink slowly. Swirl it around in your mouth so that you stimulate the release of digestive enzymes. Chewing helps release nutrients. The more you chew, the more nutrients you get. Enjoy
